The Word that Chose Me for 2023

Hello friend,

Happy New Year. I hope you’re having an awesome 2023 start.

Do you have a word for the year?

A few years ago I started a new ritual, I chose a word for the year to have as a guide and to keep me focused and support me. Then after a couple of years words started to choose me. With some words at first I didn’t think they were the right word but, they all turned out to be exactly what I needed that year.

The word that chose me for 2023 is OPEN – as soon as I realized it, unlike my words in previous years, I felt an immediate connection to it, and I right away got the feeling of – expansiveness – openness – spaciousness – not on the outside of me but, on the inside of me, it’s as if a wall has crumbled from around me and I can feel myself – O – P – E – N.

Because of that immediate feeling I decided not to look up the meaning of the word in the dictionary as I usually like to do. I don’t want to enclose it inside restrictions with set definitions that may create barriers. Maybe at some point later in the year I will but, not now. I want the word to have the freedom to evolve and reveal itself organically.

OPEN is the perfect word for this year and to be honest, I have been kind of closed up, settled in my ways, not open to new possibilities. I haven’t moved myself outside my comfort zone.  I want to change all that, actually no, I need to change all that and OPEN is inviting me to spread my wings, open to new ideas and possibilities I haven’t even thought of yet. To go beyond fear, open new doors, to change the old that doesn’t serve me any more and create new thoughts and new habits, ones that will grow me.

Having a word for the year has become a powerful tool that helps me throughout the year.  The word brings meaning, focus, joy and shines a light on my dreams and goals.  It also acts as a gentle reminder that brings me back into focus when I lose myself.

Thank you universe for this wonderful magical gift – OPEN.

My invitation for you today – A word for the year is a magical thing. If you haven’t chosen a word yet it’s not too late, you don’t even have to choose one now in January, you can chose one anytime during the year. But, open yourself up to it, find a word that embodies your vision for yourself for 2023, one that can support you and honor you, a word that empowers you in your everyday. I wrote about how to get a word and what to do with it, you can check it out here.

Well, that’s it for today. I hope this blog post serves you and inspires you. Leave a comment love to hear from you.

Wishing you a happy, bright and blessed week ahead ✴︎

    1. Ohhh I love your word Bold, great word.
I don’t remember where I heard to do that but a few years ago I started to ask the universe for a word and then I pay attention. Every year mostly in September my word appears, it’ll just be there, it’ll show up in different places all around me, I’ll be reading something and the word will pop and suddenly I’m seeing the word, and then I just know that’s my word. It doesn’t come with lightning and thunder LOL I wish it did that would be easier, it’s subtle I actually almost missed the word for this year, I started to second guess myself. Try it you may get another word and you’ll have 2 words this year. Thank you so much for being here and for your great comment, I hope Bold supports you in all the ways you need. And if you do get another word I’d love to know. xo

      1. Oh, interesting that I’m the first to ask you that. For the last 8 years, I think, I’ve had a word and each year my journey with my word gets deeper and richer. If you don’t have a word maybe you would consider it. xo
