A Reminder for Gratitude

Happy Friday friends,

We’re inside a tough time right now, but this too shall pass and we will get through it.

Now more than ever we need to have faith, hope, keep a positive mindset and love in our heart.  And we need to remind ourselves of the bounty that surrounds us and give thanks for all that we have to be grateful for.

I have a rosemary bush that grows outside my house, it was here when I moved in and is still absolutely gorgeous.  I love the scent of rosemary and I love the little purple flowers that show themselves in the Spring.  I love cutting some sprigs and bringing them inside so I can admire their beauty and smell them as I walk by.  It uplifts my spirit and fills me with hope and gratitude.  I am grateful.

I invite you to take a moment to reflect on the good that is around you.  Bring a little sunshine into your home, say thank you, be grateful for today.

And I’d love it if you would share your gratefulness today here with us.

Blessings

A Little Beauty for the Heart

Sunday blessings friends.

During this trying time, I like most all of us, am trying to stay calm, be aware of what’s going on, stay home, which I’m actually quite happy to do, since I’m a homebody at heart, and dealing with the situation the best I can.

They say that looking at beautiful things can improve the quality of your life and create happiness within.  I think that we should give ourselves something beautiful to look at every day and especially now, reflect on the beauty around you and nourish your heart.

Yesterday I spent time looking through some of my recent photos I don’t think I’ve shared, and found these that made me feel good, happy and smile.  I think that flowers have that affect on most of us.  A connection with nature that uplifts our spirit.  And strangely enough I feel a connection to the entire universe, a oneness.

What a Kind Word Can Do

I don’t think this will be a surprise to anyone, but giving away a kind word is free.  A positive kind word will definitely inspire an inner shift in how we feel.  Just think of how you felt the last time someone gave you a compliment out of the blue, telling you – great job…you look beautiful…I bet that felt pretty good, It most likely lit you up and put a smile on your face.  🙂

kind word

A positive kind word can change someone’s day or even days.  So, let’s dole it out, let’s give it freely from our heart, it’s free, especially now during the holiday season when we’re all so busy rushing about trying to get it all done, and maybe feeling a bit stressed with all that is on our to do lists.  Receiving a kind word can uplift our spirit and create a sense of well-being.  Just a simple – thank you – coming from the heart can touch someone in a special way and transform their day.

And you never know, your kind word may have a ripple effect, that person now may turn around and do the same, and change someone else’s day.

So let’s do it, my kind word for you lovelies is – You are AMAZING!!!

Kindest Blessings

December is all about Being in the Moment

December is all about being in the moment.

Finding that one moment in the day that brings you joy, that slows you down for an instant, that makes you feel the wonder.  That you set aside your to do lists, stop the rushing about and just enjoy – being in the moment – Breathe…

birds30

This is my – in the moment – today.  I opened the shade and WOW!

Every morning I’m blessed with the magnificence of these birds, I say hello my friends, and we greet the day together.  But for some reason this morning it just hit me in a special way.  I stood there staring at them, with a huge smile on my face, just watching them for a moment longer than I usually do.  And it came to me that I’m making December a month of stopping, even if it’s just for a moment, and breathing in the wonder of this amazing Universe.

Join me in making December a month of being in the moment and finding a WOW every day for yourself.  Set the intention for it and it will show itself to you.  You may also want to keep a journal of the WOW you find every day, so at the end of the month you can look at all the wonder moments you had.

I’d love to hear from you, love to know your WOW, feel free to post in the comments every day if you wish.

Have a magnificent December everyone.

Blessings

How to Get Yourself Out of a Funky Mood

Life happens and we all fall into the pit of – funky mood – at times.  When that happens here’s one way that you can pull yourself out when you realize that you have fallen down the pit of funky mood.

Writing

Write out a gratitude/pick me up list.

Write down ten things that you’re grateful for about yourself.  And don’t worry it doesn’t have to be perfect, there is no such thing, there is no right or wrong.  This list is for you, don’t worry about grammar, or punctuation, or what someone else will think.  And yes, let yourself be totally – selfish and self-absorbed – who cares.  This is a self-love/pick me up out of funk letter to yourself.  So, take three deep breaths, put a smile on your face and start writing –

Some examples:

I am grateful that I got my nails done.

I am grateful for my beautiful hair.

I am grateful that I am awesome.

I am grateful for my mind.

I am grateful for my breakfast.

I am grateful for my health.

I am grateful that I am safe and secure.

I am grateful that I am spectacular.

You can also write:

I am powerful.

I am strong.

I am confident.

I am precious.

No negatives allowed here and don’t limit yourself it doesn’t have to be fabulous, you’re not in competition with anyone. Find things that you can say about yourself.  I am a great baker.  I love to read magazines.  You’re just going to write out ten things that you’re grateful for, pick me ups that will uplift your spirit.  I am grateful that I lost 4 pounds.  I am grateful that I walked up the stairs…If you have more than ten write them, and if you don’t have ten, then just find five or three.

When you’re done, read your list out loud to yourself, but don’t read it like a robot, read it and let each gratitude/pick me up seep into you, embrace it, feel it to be the truth of you, give thanks for it.  Read your list again throughout the day, read it as many times as you need to, modify it if it feels good.

Writing out a gratitude/pick me up list will change your funky mood to – JOY!

Blessings

How & Why Choose a Word for the Year

A few years ago, I started this practice of having a word be my guide and companion for the year.  I chose my first word “breakthrough” because I needed to break through all the walls that I had built around myself, (to protect myself) I now started to feel like I was locked up in a place where I hid myself to be safe from a cruel world. I needed to break out from all the beliefs that weren’t really my own, beliefs that I acquired since childhood from others, that I took and made them my own and was guarding them with my life. I became those beliefs until my life started to change big time, and I started to question them, they no longer fit my awakened consciousness.  Those beliefs didn’t align with who I was becoming, but I couldn’t pry myself loose from them, they were at the core of who I was for over fifty years.  Up to that point I never questioned them, I just believed them and lived by them.  I needed to free myself in order to grow, to expand, to find out who – I am.

empowered

The following year I also chose my word, after that every year words just appeared and chose me. They’re always the perfect words for that year, and they always show up around October.  These yearly words are my mantra, my guiding principle throughout the year.  The word that showed up for me this year is “Empowered” and WOW! I’m already feeling the effects of the power this word holds within it.  Things have already started to shift inside of me and I am already empowered with a new higher vibrational energy.  My mind has opened to greater visions.  People, courses and books that can support me on this new path have already shown up. I feel that I have opened a new door and am on a new higher more empowered way.

Why have a word and how to get one:

The idea for having a word to guide you is to have a central focus that you can lean on.

“Your Word of the Year sets an intention, a theme per se, for how you want your year to flow.” ~ Elizabeth Rider

Reflect on what you need most that will most support you throughout the year.  Do you need to feel peace, joy?  Do you want to feel more empowered or brave or silence, or community?  Maybe you want the word “goal” to help you in reaching your goals. Or a word that will help you open more to your creativity, or tune more into your intuition.  Do you want to expand, bloom, grow?  Do you want more self-confidence, self-love?  What values can you identify that will move you forward to where you want to be.  What word represents that?  What word has jumped out at you here while you’re reading?

There is no limit to words and there is no right or wrong here.  You can have more than one word, mostly I get my main word and then two or three more words show up later.  If you feel that the word you’ve chosen is not right for you, change it, you don’t have to keep it for an entire year.  Instead of New Year resolutions a word can be your constant reminder for what you want to manifest.  A reminder to stay on course towards creating a more positive, sweeter life.

How to recognize your word:

Once you set your intention for a word, whether you decide on a word or a word chooses you, you will know.  It will grab a hold of you, and it will not go away.  It’ll suddenly be everywhere, it’ll be in your thoughts, you’ll hear it in songs, you’ll see it on a billboard, the covers of magazines, you’ll hear it spoken; it’ll pop up in a book you’re reading.  You will know it.

What to do with your word:

Once you get your word write it down, commit to it.  Honor its presence and believe in its power.

You could draw a symbol that represents it.  Make it your screen saver.  Write it on sticky notes and place them in different places around your home, on your bathroom mirror so you see it first thing in the morning, on your fridge.  You can also create a vision board with your word, decorate it.  Write out why you chose that word.  The possibilities are endless.  You can do all of these or none, but the one thing that I strongly suggest you do is write it down and place it where you will see it every day, and say thank you to your word.

Celebrate your life, celebrate your word, celebrate your year ahead!!!

I’d love to know, do you have a word for the year?

Blessings
