5 Simple Ways to Bring Joy into Your Every Day

Hello everyone hope you’re well,  I wrote this article back in March 2020 for the May issue #11, of The Inspired Guide magazine, here, pg 64 – Whether we realize it or not, we need joy in our life every day for our well-being.  I’m delighted to share this article here and I hope it inspires you.

^^^^^^

I believe that now more than ever, we need to feel anchored, grounded and hold onto a sense of balance in our daily lives.

For me, like many of us, one minute I feel great and the next I’m stressed, anxious, fearful or on edge.  It’s a roller coaster ride of emotions and I need to return to my daily rituals of self-love, and self-care.  I need to bring into my day those regular things that support and nourish my well-being. I need to regain my sense of calm.  I need to create balance and have positive uplifting things in my day so I can cope with the rest.  I need to bring sunshine into my heart, I need – JOY!!!

Joy is what illuminates the darkness, joy is what heals our mind and body.  Joy is what brings moments of bliss and fills us with love.  Joy lights us up, and opens our spirit to shine.  When we’re full of joy, we emanate that energy out into the universe, and the universe needs all the joy we can muster.

joy-2Joy is my daily sanctuary, it’s not always possible, life happens, but when you can I invite you to join me, get creative and gift yourself a little time each day to do something uplifting and joyous.  It’s those few moments of creativity, of being immersed in something that makes you feel good that will uplift and brighten your days.

Here are 5 easy, feel good ways to bring joy into your day:

Take a photo – Challenge yourself to take a photo every day of something that makes you feel happy when you look at it.  Doesn’t have to be big, or complicated, you can use the camera in your phone and just snap.

Kindness.  Do something kind from your heart for someone, it will raise your vibration and fill you with joy.

Learn something new.  Learn a language, how to knit, how to draw, Yoga, how to fix a cabinet.  There are endless possibilities.  Just involve yourself and give yourself a new experience.

Connect with nature.  Walk barefoot on the grass.  Hug a tree. Listen to the birds chirping.  Bring flowers into your home.  Go for a nature walk around your neighborhood.  Watch a show on TV about nature.  Just admire nature, if you’re open to it, nature will open itself to you.

Love yourself.  Cultivate the habit of loving and nurturing yourself.  Make time for you.  Give yourself what you need, rest, jump, read articles on how to love yourself.  Find one thing you love about yourself every day and give gratitude for it.

Joy is not indulgence, it’s a necessity and it’s our choice and responsibility.  It’s our empowerment.  There’s magick in feeling joy, it lights us up, makes us feel good, fills us with energy.  Joy can help us combat stress reenergize us and boost our resilience.  Joy keeps us healthy and sane.  It strengthens our immune system, and we can rely on it to pull us through difficult times.

Joy is an essential part of our daily life; we need joy for our well-being. Even if we spend just fifteen minutes a day doing something that makes our heart smile, we will raise our vibration level, uplift our mood, elevate our mindset, and just plain feel joy-filled.

Joy-full Blessings.

December is all about Being in the Moment

This is my – in the moment – today.  I opened the shade and WOW!

Every morning I’m blessed with the magnificence of these birds, I say hello my friends, and we greet the day together.  But for some reason this morning it just hit me in a special way.  I stood there staring at them, with a huge smile on my face, just watching them for a moment longer than I usually do.  And it came to me that I’m making December a month of stopping, even if it’s just for a moment, and breathing in the wonder of this amazing Universe.

Join me in making December a month of being in the moment and finding a WOW every day for yourself.  Set the intention for it and it will show itself to you.  You may also want to keep a journal of the WOW you find every day, so at the end of the month you can look at all the wonder moments you had.

I’d love to hear from you, love to know your WOW, feel free to post in the comments every day if you wish.

Have a magnificent December everyone.

Blessings

How to Get Yourself Out of a Funky Mood

Life happens and we all fall into the pit of – funky mood – at times.  When that happens here’s one way that you can pull yourself out when you realize that you have fallen down the pit of funky mood.

Writing

Write out a gratitude/pick me up list.

Write down ten things that you’re grateful for about yourself.  And don’t worry it doesn’t have to be perfect, there is no such thing, there is no right or wrong.  This list is for you, don’t worry about grammar, or punctuation, or what someone else will think.  And yes, let yourself be totally – selfish and self-absorbed – who cares.  This is a self-love/pick me up out of funk letter to yourself.  So, take three deep breaths, put a smile on your face and start writing –

Some examples:

I am grateful that I got my nails done.

I am grateful for my beautiful hair.

I am grateful that I am awesome.

I am grateful for my mind.

I am grateful for my breakfast.

I am grateful for my health.

I am grateful that I am safe and secure.

I am grateful that I am spectacular.

You can also write:

I am powerful.

I am strong.

I am confident.

I am precious.

No negatives allowed here and don’t limit yourself it doesn’t have to be fabulous, you’re not in competition with anyone. Find things that you can say about yourself.  I am a great baker.  I love to read magazines.  You’re just going to write out ten things that you’re grateful for, pick me ups that will uplift your spirit.  I am grateful that I lost 4 pounds.  I am grateful that I walked up the stairs…If you have more than ten write them, and if you don’t have ten, then just find five or three.

When you’re done, read your list out loud to yourself, but don’t read it like a robot, read it and let each gratitude/pick me up seep into you, embrace it, feel it to be the truth of you, give thanks for it.  Read your list again throughout the day, read it as many times as you need to, modify it if it feels good.

Writing out a gratitude/pick me up list will change your funky mood to – JOY!

Blessings

Finding Wonder and Joy in Every Day

When I pull up the shades and this is what I see, it makes my soul sing with joy.

tree14

A few days ago I fell and by some divine miracle I didn’t hurt my surgery knee, (from which I’m still not fully recovered,) nor did I  completely kill myself.  I am bruised and still feel the fall, but I’m OK.  It’s been four months since the surgery, and I haven’t been able to really go outside and walk around looking for wonder to photograph.

I started off this year with the word “mindfulness” and as the year progressed two other words attached themselves to me, “joy” and “wonder”.  And so far it’s been a real gift to find joy and wonder in the everyday things.  This morning I pulled up the shade and I was immediately struck by this gorgeous view.   I usually don’t photograph airplanes, nor are there many flying over my house, but there it was, the sky the airplane the trees the colors, I could feel the beauty and the view just hit me, a gift to my senses.

Wonder and joy are all around us, they are in our every day no matter where we are, we can find it if we’re open to it.  I feel joy washing the pots I used to cook my dinner in, I love feeling the warm water run through my fingers.  I feel great joy cleaning my kitchen after dinner, feeling grateful for another end of a day and leaving it clean and ready for the morning.

The most important part to bringing a moment of joy and wonder into our day is to want to.  It’s our choice, we get to decide, we can set our intention to be mindful, and open to see wonder in the things that we do or look at every day.

Do you look for a moment of wonder and joy in your days? Come and join in the fun and share your moment, I’d love to know.

July A Message from Hummingbird

I love pulling a Tarot or Oracle card on the first of each month and letting it be a guiding energy for the month.  On 7/1 I asked what energy do I need for this month and Hummingbird showed up and OMG absolutely perfect, just what I needed a reminder of.

When Hummingbird shows up it’s a reminder that we need to bring joy into our days, to lighten up, take ourselves out of a rut we may be in.  Hummingbird also reminds us to look at our energy levels and that we need to raise our vibration, a good question to ask ourselves is – are we wasting our energy on worry, fear, on not having enough?  And when this magical bird appears we can expect synchronicities to happen.  Hummingbirds also symbolize healing, agility, playfulness and this is just a few things.

For me, I have a tendency to fall into the place of ‘serious’ and not even realize it.  And right now, as I’m going through this recovery from surgery, let me tell you it’s not hard at all to go day after day and not be aware of that I’m missing the little things that bring great joy into my day.  So for Hummingbird to show up, what a blessing.

So this is my intention for this month, to make myself aware to bring joy into every day. Doesn’t matter what it is, putting my feet up and drinking a cup of tea and feeling the joy in it.   Listening to the birds chirping in the morning.  Or buying myself flowers…Whatever it is, I’ll be bringing joy intentionally to my days even if it is for just a couple of moments.

When we set the intention and become aware, we can find a moment of sweetness in every day.  If you resonate with Hummingbirds message, join me in intentionally bringing a moment of joy into your every day, it will make a difference in your wellbeing.  Let me know what you think, leave a comment, I love to know.

This beautiful card is from the Mystical Shaman Oracle card deck by, Alberto Violloldo, Colette Baron-Reid, & Marcela Lobos.

A Message from Your Angels

Be conscious of nourishing your joy.

It’s so easy to get lost inside the everyday hustle and to forget your joy.

conscious joy

Reminder alert here –

Nourish your joy every day, don’t let it fall to the wayside and let yourself get caught up in negative thoughts that are not serving you well.  Be conscious of your joy, if you’re not feeling it, stop and ask yourself what are you feeling?  How important is that feeling to you?  If it’s not brining you joy, why are you holding on to it?  Let it go, get conscious and do something that brings you joy, and hold on to that instead.  This can be as simple as taking a break and sitting quietly having a cup of coffee, calling on your angels and asking them to help you feel joy, drawing a doodle for a few minutes, or mindfully affirming that you are joy.  Your body, mind and soul will thank you, and your angels will be dancing all around you.

Your angels want you to know that joy is your gift, and you’re here to feel joy – allow joy to flourish.
