A Pause in the Day

A simple pause in the day –

It’s amazing what a moment of pause, of placing your focus on something else can do for you.  While I was out earlier, I was lost in thought thinking about how limited I am right now in my mobility, how life has a way of slowing you down, when suddenly I noticed the tree with its green leaves against the blue sky and the gorgeous clouds, and everything changed, and gratitude showed up.

The Benefits of Buying Yourself Flowers

Everything has a reason and a purpose in this universe and flowers are no exception, they are magical, mystical beings that support and love us in many ways.

When I bring fresh flowers home, I can feel a change in energy as soon as I walk in, I can feel the atmosphere change.  Actually, I can feel something as soon as I start looking at them in the store, something changes energetically in my body.  My heart opens, I’m overcome with a feeling of joy and love, there’s a calm that comes over me and they put a smile on my face.

For years I sat and waited for someone else to bring me flowers, I never thought of flowers being something that I can give to myself, it was something that someone else gave you for a special occasion.  Once when I was visiting a friend I noticed that she had flowers in a couple of places in her home and when I asked who got her the flowers she said no one, she bought them herself.  It was like a light bulb turned on in my head.  WOW!, I love flowers so much but I never thought of buying them for myself.

I’ve been buying myself flowers ever since.  Although I have to admit that there are times that I have flowers every week, and than there are times, and I don’t know why, that I stop for a while, but they have become a part of my overall self-care/self-love must have, and I never go for too long without them.

Just some of the benefits – flowers can brighten up a room and your mood.  Because they oxygenate the air, they help our concentration and memory, which in turn boosts our brain cells and makes us feel better.

Just looking at them the color, the loveliness makes us feel happy and peaceful.

They can also have a fundamental impact on our health, they reduce stress, aid in helping us have peace of mind, sleep better and just overall feel better.  They help us feel less anxious or depressed. And they even have the power to increase our productivity and boost our creativity, and who doesn’t want that?

We’re blessed to have different flowers for every season, and I love having them in my home.  It’s become a part of my ritual of welcoming in a new season and I feel more connected with nature in their presence, oh and one other thing, they raise the energy and vibration all around me.  If you’re thinking that you have to spend a lot of money on them, you don’t.  I usually buy them in the supermarket and the price is usually less than $10, I bought the ones in the first picture for $6.99.

I hope I’ve inspired you to buy yourself flowers, make them a part of your self-care/self-love ritual and feel their magical mystical powers embrace you.

How to Give Yourself a Sweeter Day

Remember you are awesome!

Embrace yourself.

Be kind to yourself.

Give yourself a break.

You don’t need to do it all in one day.

You don’t have to be a perfectionist all the time.

You don’t have to accomplish your to do list all in one day.

You can let go a bit and allow yourself to just be.

And put your feet up.

Give yourself 30 minutes of some – me – time.

Have a cup of chi or coffee or whatever makes you say ahhhhhhhhh.

Breathe.

Do something that brings joy into your body.

Walk barefoot on the grass.

Just stare out the window.

Read a few words from your favorite book.

Doodle.

Meditate.

Dance.

Or, just do nothing at all.

Just be.

Remember – YOU ARE AWESOME!

I’ve Reached a Milestone in My Recovery

OMG I can’t stand it I’m so deliriously happy. YEAHHHH!!!! Freedom!!! I drove myself to Target yesterday for the first time since my surgery and I feel like I have crossed a milestone.  It’s been six weeks and I’m not going to lie to you, this recovery has been kicking my butt.  I’m finally now starting to get back to my awesome self.  I’m still not 100% recovered, I’m released from therapy but I still have a ways to go, and it’s getting easier now.  Walking every day and using the stationary bike is what’s helping me to heal my knee.

And being able to drive myself to the store, well that is just a whole other level of joy – it’s total heaven.

A Little Daily Reminder – Smile

Every day you have the choice of how you nourish yourself.

Here’s one way to nourish your body, mind and spirit – smile.

A smile has an undeniable transformative power, even a fake smile can transform your mood, you will feel an immediate change.

heartsThere are times that I just get caught up in the every day stuff and a smile is the furthest thing from my mind.  But as soon as I put a smile on, everything changes, I feel my face light up, not just my face but my whole-body lights up.  My feelings, my mood, whatever it is, the heaviness lifts out of me and everything changes.

The thing with a smile is that you cannot have a smile on your face and feel angry or sad…just like you cannot have a frown and feel happy.

Today give yourself the gift of a smile. Walk out your front door with a smile on your face, drive your car with a smile on, walk into your work with a smile on.  Text with a smile on your face.  If you have an appointment, bring that smile with you.  Exercise with a smile on.  Have your coffee with a smile on.  Talk on the phone with a smile on, the energy of your smile will come through and the other person will feel it.  Whatever you do today – keep a smile on.

A smile is also contagious, rarely do I look at someone that I pass by in the street, or the supermarket, wherever I may be, with a smile on my face and they don’t smile back.  And the thing about a smile is that you may have greatly affected that person, it may have been just what they needed in that moment, that small bit of a smile that made them feel love and transformed their day.

Try it out, just for today, put a smile on your face and leave it there.  Let yourself feel the happy – smile.

Simple Way to Bless Yourself & Your Home

I want to share with you a simple practice I’ve been doing now for a few years – blessing myself and my home.  I don’t leave my house without blessing.  It’s become a magical part of my every day, and by now, I don’t even have to think of it, the words just show up and I say them.

Blessing myself is a powerful act of love and when I declare blessings on myself and connect to myself and Spirit in this way, I’m blessing the universe too, I’m sending waves of loving blessings out into the universe.

Here’s what I do, before I leave my house, while I’m walking around from room to room making sure I put out all the candles I had burning, that the fan is turned off in my bathroom, that all is good in the kitchen, I just very simply say – I am blessed, my home is blessed, my day is blessed, everything is good and perfect and blessed. Thank you. Thank you.  Thank you.  And I instantly feel the joy these words ignite inside of me.

I don’t have a set rule or set words that I speak.  Some days what I say changes a bit, but mostly this is what I say.  And as I’m walking out the door to my car I feel myself calm, spiritually protected, safe and loved and I know all is good.

This simple act of blessing myself has helped to change the way I feel every day and I encourage you to try it.  The key to really crafting a ritual for yourself, no matter how outlandish it may seem, is to abandon any notion that you’re not doing it right, or that it’s not acceptable, or what will they think?  Do you have the right to?…Just go with your gut feeling, if you feel that this ritual is good for you, if it feels right to you, then it is and do it.  Make it a part of your daily self-care, you will raise your vibration, you will feel more calm and you will feel spiritually blessed.
