Why Give Your Self Praise

It’s real easy to put ourselves down for what we believe we didn’t do right, or perfect enough, or for putting our foot in our mouth…But it’s not often, or maybe never, that we give ourselves a high five for a job well done.  Maybe appreciating ourselves for finishing a goal we set for ourselves, for being brave enough, or for the every day things that we accomplish…We praise everyone else for all sorts of things, oh what you did was great…I knew you could do it…I’m so proud of you…you’re amazing…but we don’t say those kind precious words to our own self.

I was looking through some photos and I’m in awe of how great a photographer I’ve become.  I’ve busted through and gotten over my fear of photographing something in public. I’ve developed a keen eye and an inner sense of looking through the lens and highlighting the beauty in what I’m photographing. I’ve gained perspective for how to position my subject for best effect, and I’ve learned how to edit my photographs…I’ve fallen in love with the camera and seeing my creations bring happiness to others makes me super happy and proud of myself.  So today I’m praising myself for the awesome photographer I’ve become.  I AM AWESOME!!!  YEAH!!!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you can kind of tell that I love flowers.  I find them wherever I go.  These I photographed today at the supermarket.

Giving your self praise will uplift your mood, will make you happy and feel good about yourself, and it’ll help you believe in yourself.  It will empower you, give you self confidence, motivation and inspiration – and guess what?  All that is good for your health.

So how about you?  Be your own best friend.  You deserve kindness from you, you deserve your own praise.   It’s the greatest pick me up and the greatest for your soul.

Why Take a Day Off From…

Today I’m just popping in for a quick minute to just invite you to give yourself permission to take a day off – from the world.  That’s what I’m doing and maybe you need to also.

Sometimes I forget that I can’t just give give give, and go go go, I need to also stop, receive and refill.  I need to also give myself time to just rest and replenish, and well…                just do nothing.

It’s a day that I give myself permission to just be.  Like I said I call it my – day off from the world. No work.  No heavy lifting.  No I have to.  I should.  I must.  No anxiety allowed.  (Although I have to admit I was feeling a bit anxious earlier, I’m totally calm now.)  No feeling guilty for taking time out for me to just chill, to just not expect anything of myself.  Just giving myself permission to play in the field without expectations to accomplish anything, or to create anything, or to inspire anyone…or, whatever it is I think I need to be doing.

Stopping to replenishing my mind, body and soul is the greatest gift I can give to my overall well-being.  This is part of my living mindfully and self-care, and sometimes I forget that I need to embrace solitude, empty space, do nothing time – rest.  Today, in my journal writing I was reminded of this practice by my Celestial Beings, thank you.

So, before I go and take a day off from the world, I just wanted to pop in here and share my thoughts with you, I hope that this will encourage you to do the same, if you’re finding yourself in need of some special self-care.

Daily Mindful Pause

To connect with my inner self, I like to take a daily mindful pause.  I don’t plan this, I just set the intention for it and I open myself to receive the invitation from Spirit and  step into it.

Today my invitation for my mindful pause was this beautiful bouquet I bought at the store.  When I saw it, I was immediately drawn to it, I felt joy and holiday cheer and  couldn’t wait to come home and see what I was moved to create.

I love to lose myself in the mystery of the process.  Every time I’m inside that space of creative energy something happens, there’s a silence that I’m immersed in and I lose complete outer sense and become only aware of the now moment and the unfolding of an idea that through me is coming to life.

Simple Pleasures Can Fill Us With Joy

In the realm of the day to day we can find simple pleasures that fill us with great joy.

On Friday I went to my granddaughter’s school for a grandparents lunch. I sat next to my precious sweetheart who told me all about everything in the school.  Her favorite teacher who sat at our table, her best friend who was a few tables over, well she really has two best friends, and when I took a picture of the first graders singing she asked me why I’m taking a photo since she’s not in it LOL. And when I opened my napkin she showed me how to place my utensils the correct way. And I was gifted with these gorgeous roses.

A joyous memory I will hold forever in my heart.

August – A Month of Pampering Yourself

There are many ways that we can pamper ourselves.  Take a hot bath with scented oils.  Get a massage.  Take a nap.  Buy ourselves flowers, a gift, take a walk in nature, see a movie with a friend…but we don’t think about pampering ourself with the thoughts that we allow to overtake our mind and body.

Every thought that we have holds either a negative or positive energy that affects our entire selves.  Our thoughts don’t just stay in our mind, they filter through to every cell in our body.  They get embedded in our blood, our skin, our bones.  They get into every nook and crevice.  They park themselves inside of us creating havoc in our bodies if they are negative thoughts.

Every thought dictates our well being.  Every thought heals us or not, makes us feel happy or not, loving or not, angry or not.  Every thought creates a feeling which creates an emotion, which creates our experience, which creates our actions. And with every thought we have every day, we’re living and experiencing our life.

I’m making August a month of mindful pampering for me.  Reminding myself every week of another area I’ve been neglecting.  Life happens and things just get away from me and I have to bring myself back to what’s important for me.  Living everyday mindfully and consciously aware of what thoughts and words I allow into my mind and body.  What I allow to rule, regulate and shape me, helps me to stay more open to what’s important for me, and that is filling myself with loving healing energy and connected with Divine Mother.

What I do is I set my intention to be conscious of negative thoughts I’m holding on to.  It may be something someone said at work, or something that I’m thinking about myself. Words that I’m using to berate myself, thoughts of not being good enough…I stop myself, I thank that thought for being here and I tell it I don’t need it anymore and I change it to a positive thought.  I only hold on to good loving thoughts about myself.  

My trick for reminding myself to only hold on to words and thoughts that are empowering for me, is I place sticky notes around my house to remind myself.  I’ll write on them – be conscious of your thoughts.  I’ll place a sticky note on my bathroom mirror, on my refrigerator, on my computer, on the table where I sit, on the dashboard of my car, anyplace where I will see them throughout the day.   I deserve good thoughts.  This works like magic.

Inner calm, a feeling of peace, living at a higher vibration.  Feeling in harmony with universal forces, manifesting our desires, all of this happens when we remove the negative thoughts that block us, limit us, disempower us, that are influencing our every day living.

So make August a month of pampering yourself with thoughts that uplift and heal!
