This One Thing is a Game Changer

Hello wonderful people,

How was your first week of 2021???

I am full of hope and inspiration.  I’m reminding myself that we’re in a #5 year which carries the energies of freedom from restriction and change.  And talking about change, I’ve revised my personal boundaries. I made a list of what I will allow and not allow into my life, for instance, I don’t go on social media, look at emails, answer the phone, or read texts (at least I’m trying not to) for the first two hours after I wake up.  This is my sacred time which I devote to me, focusing on my dreams, my health, my creativity, and whatever else I feel nourishes me. I put my list where I can see it every day and read it. I know not everyone has time in the morning, but if you can manage to give yourself 30 minutes or even 15, believe me it’s a game changer. When I give myself time, my mind is more clear, I feel better, I am in a positive mindset and I feel happier.

I finally got myself out for a morning walk yesterday, something that I love to do but fell behind on last year (I’m blaming this on COVID) Here are a few photos from my walk. There was a flock of birds that flew by but I couldn’t get a good shot of them, I did manage to get a shot of the birds on the wire above the house.

I’d love to know if you set boundaries for yourself? Feel free to share, I love to read your comments.

Have a wonderful day and weekend.

Blessings

  1. That’s a great idea to make a list of what you will and won’t allow into your life. I think boundaries can be both flexible and more strict, and I’m realising I need to make some far firmer than they are. I used to have a very different morning routine pre-illness, and now the mornings can be pretty awful. I miss a lot of mornings now to migraines so sometimes I don’t see them at all! But I do agree that it is incredible the difference you can experience by having a block of time first thing after waking up that’s just positive vibes, not social media, not awful news, just quiet time or uplifting music and the chance to take care of yourself and your mental health.

I’m glad you managed your walk. We’ve not done much walking at all this past year because of Covid. It makes me wish we lived more out in the sticks with no people around as walking would have been a breeze then. Love your photos too. That neighbourhood looks lovely judging by the photo of the road – that’s an incredible house straight ahead, looks huge! Anyway, rather off-topic there. We were hoping to move prior to Covid and now I’m always nosing at houses and neighbourhoods wondering what they’d be live to live in. I’m finding places that are a lot more appealing anywhere other than the UK unfortunately! 😆 xx

    1. I totally agree, making a list is great because you’ve laid it out and seeing it on paper makes it more clear for me, boundaries can be for anything and you can be flexible of course. We’re living a life and things always happen, but for the most part I stick to my boundaries and because of it, I’m much happier, I’m taking care of me. Sorry about your migraines, that is not an easy thing to live with, but you don’t have to stick to making boundaries in the morning, you can make time for yourself and set boundaries anytime during the day. Giving yourself some time for your own care will definetely improve your mental health.

I’m so happy when I do go out and walk, I go out early in the morning before any of my neighbors are out,I like to walk alone. LOL
Well, hopefully soon you’ll find an appealing place to move to in the UK. I think that house looks more huge because I zoomed in with the camera to get the birds. Take care, have a wonderful day xoxo

  2. I love the idea of staying away from the phone for a while after getting up. I’ve had days where I’ll wake up and get right on my phone only to notice hours have passed and I’ve done nothing. The list of boundaries is such great advice!
    Thank you for sharing this!

    1. Yes that’s happened to me too, it took me a while not to feel like I’m missing out, but every time I stuck to my boundary I felt better and that helped me to continue. Making a list, putting it on paper really helps me, it’s more real that way. I hope it helps you too. Have a wonderful week Michelle, xoxo
